I feel that Natural and Intuitive beekeeping is the way forward for the bees, for us, and for the planet.
I am concerned about what is going on, and at the same time I feel empowered to work with women and bees in an intuitive way. The bees are our ancient allies and have much wisdom for us if we can only take time to listen.
I started my relationship with Bee Shamanism in 2006. I read Simon Buxton’s book “The Shamanic Way Of the Bee” and soon after that I started training with The Sacred Trust. It has been a personal healing journey at a deep and profound level. It was the beginning of my journey to come into my power as a shamanic healer.
Most recently I have been working with another Bee Shaman to run workshops in Portugal. It had been my dream for a few years to do this. I did not know who I would be working with or how it would work, but I am going to tell you the story of how it all happened.
A trip to the south of Portugal in 2013 was the beginning of an adventure that enabled me to meet Sandira, the beekeeper for Tamera, a peace centre and cutting edge community. She is what you would call a natural and spiritual beekeeper, meaning she works intuitively with the bees.
Our meeting was brief, because she was leaving next day to do a sun hive making course in England, but she told me where her hive was and I made a connection to it on a regular basis, building a relationship with her bees.
I felt so inspired by them I decided to take a group of women to meet the Bees in a ceremonial way.
I invited six women (I asked them to wear white dresses or skirts) to make a silent pilgrimage to meet the bees, our intention being to listen to their wisdom and /or ask for some guidance.
So we walked to a place in the shade where we could make a circle. We hummed to build up energy between us and to connect to our hearts, I felt our humming would also be a nice vibration for the bees to feel and know that we were there. Then after a while, I guided each woman, one at a time, to sit with the bees. I suggested that they take a gift of nature to thank them for their wisdom.
It was powerful and came so naturally to us all. When I returned with the last woman, all the other women had lain down on their bellies and started humming to the earth.
We shared our stories after. They were deep and very moving.
I was deeply moved by this experience, and felt like I wanted to do more.
After this, I travelled to a retreat centre called Gravito in the North of Portugal. I told the story of the bees at Tamera, they were so enthusiastic, and the idea started to grow to build a hive and keep bees in a natural and spiritual way there. I asked around in the U.K. without any luck. Then I decided to ask Sandira if she would be able to build a hive and teach some of her knowledge. She was delighted,
There was a lot of interest in the beekeeping subject, in the retreat centre and so we ended up running a course as well as building a top bar hive.
Women and bees caring for each other is an offering from two passionate shamanic intuitive beekeepers working in alliance with bees to create a new paradigm where we approach bees with love and respect. For instance, we only take honey when there is enough, and we make a new relationship with the bees which means they no longer need to defend themselves with their sting.
This year we ran the course with six women. It lasted four days. There were two women from the Path Of Pollen, (Shamanic Bee course) and four local women.
We journeyed as a small community of women eating together sharing ceremony, massage healing and singing together. I felt like we were a hive and the women were my sisters.
